CRYING AND SMILING

when babies come into this world
they often wonder why
they had to leave their cozy home
so they begin to cry
.
the people who attend the birth
are rapt and standing by
they gleefully are smiling
when that baby starts to cry
.
when people have to leave this world
and walk that final mile
they know there is a better place
so they begin to smile
.
the people who have gathered 'round
and have to face that trial
so mournfully are crying
as that person starts to smile

Sorry . . . .
make it as poetic as you like, but baby's brains aren't developed they operate on survival instinct (like any animal from ameba upwards) and when we 'leave this world' we either feel cheated or are tired of life and welcome the end (depending on age and health.)
Those witnessing the beginning and the end of others are the ones who are kidding themselves, but don't feel bad . . . . we all do it. (which is the only reason this poem isn't pointless)
