FISHING HOLE

i visited a lovely lake
located far from town
where you could do some fishing
if you laid some money down
.
i asked the man about the fee
he told me, "it depends
for there are different kinds of sport
on two opposing ends"
.
"on one side, you just never know
what animal you'll catch
it might be dogs or cats or bats
even monkeys, not a stretch"
.
"there was a guy who just last week
pulled a monkey from the lake
the monkey died while struggling
and that was a huge mistake"
.
"for the monkey's mate had witnessed it
when he saw what had been done
he wrestled a park ranger down
and took away his gun"
.
"he shot the man who killed his mate
that monkey went to jail"
i asked, "what of the other side
tell me what that might entail"
.
the man said, "that's our catch and ride
there you'll find much larger fish
and when they're caught, you saddle up
and may ride them if you wish"
.
when i saw some people doing this
i knew it was no joke
i gave the man some money
that's the time that i awoke
