you'd think a tree would don its clothes
when autumn claimed its ground
but gusts of air undresses them
and scatters leaves around
.
the winds tear fortunes from the trees
their leaves in spendthrift glee
they rocket in the sky like flames
engaged in lunacy
.
some crash and burn upon the earth
their ash, a common bond
the lucky land quite lovingly
upon a tranquil pond
.
a mirror of infinity
where water hugs the sky
the leaves form constellations
for the sea life swimming by
.
the sea life craves the heavens
dinner slipped through prison bars
no wonder, rafts of gold
to half blind fish, resemble stars
,
but in the dead of winter
things are crystal clear as ice
no need for flashy colors
when you're viewing paradise
