FLEDGLING

you blew in on a winter's day
and flew out on the same
considered life as man and wife
but was it just a game ?
for life must hold reality
that's made of brick and stone
while wispy dreams are nice it seems
in fact you were alone
so fly my little fledgling
go and sing your lovely song
and when you choose what tree to use
make sure that you belong
yes, fate had seemed to join us
in this certain time and space
perhaps, its true my part is through
and that is hard to face
and what you call desertion
is in fact an act of love
i'd love to clasp you in my grasp
but here's a little shove
so fly my little fledgling
love can be a funny thing
its hard to know when time to go
and when its time to cling
for flight is always frightening
but a soul can't simply float
we've spent our time in dreams and rhyme
we've hit the highest note
but now that you have found your voice
a new song you must trill
and though we may be far away
please know i love you still
so fly my little fledgling
it is time for you to roam
what may occur i'll make you sure
my heart is still your home
