they say that in the future
you won't have to travel far
there will not be a motor boat
an airplane or a car
you'll step inside a little box
three seconds, there you are
they say that in the future
you won't have to travel far

they say that in the future
you will look just like a dream
your skin a textured piece of silk
with eyes like jewels that gleam
your teeth a pristine sculpture
hairstyles done by laser beam
they say that in the future
you will look just like a dream

they say that in the future
you will have no need to dine
a daily pill supplied to you
will keep you running fine
a perfect mix of vitamins
of well thought out design
they say that in the future
you will have no need to dine

they say that in the future
there will be no books to read
yet there'll be thrilling stories
in which you will play the lead
a virtual experience
with everything you need
they say that in the future
there will be no books to read

i do not want this future
all these things are not for me
for i enjoy the journey
and the lovely things you see
stuff my ugly face with tacos
while i read beneath a tree
i do not want this future

I think I might take the fast travelling thing, as I'm scared of flying, but I also like eating a massive steak and sitting back in the chair all bloated and regretting it, so in all I agree with you! Not least because the argument was in the form of this excellent poem. Steve.

Great poem alvin, I do not like the thought that we will be taking pills for food and not being able to enjoy the pleasure of preparing and cooking a meal, then sitting down and savouring the flavours. Also to read a good book is so important to me and oh! for mother nature, how wonderful she is, where would we be without her? Thanks for sharing this poem. Wishing you well. Jenny.
