it started out with catching fish

or sometimes warlike games

collecting treasure troves of eights

avoiding maiden dames

but when the games involved some coin

it rocked me to the core

twas cut by cards that were not sharp

i'm playing cards no more

it started out with yahtzee cries

perquackey, farkle threw

i tackled kismet once or twice

my mind was boggled, too

but i crapped out when spending cash

and vital was the score

twas burned by dice that were not hot

i'm rolling dice no more

it started out with doctor play

or watching bottles spin

a postal office visit

with some truth or dares within

but when the heart came into play

those games just laid me low

twas felled by love that never rose

i still will gamble though
