I STAND BENEATH THE RAIN
By moonphish

i see the dark clouds overhead
i dread the dying sun
but i don't flee the pain in store
my legs too numb to run
i wait until the storm expands
and stand there locked in place
i stand beneath the rain you bring
and let it soak my face
i seek communion, more or less
confessing all my guilt
i am a castle made of sand
and not that firmly built
the rain turns into drops of blood
they bud like stains, divine
i stand beneath the rain you bring
and drink it up like wine
when God had tired of sins of man
the land he drenched with tears
he washed away his hopes and dreams
in tandem with his fears
your torrent's monumental
never gentle, coming down
i stand beneath the rain you bring
but damn you, i won't drown
