LARRY THE LOBSTER

larry was a lobster
and he wasn't very large
he always had been bullied
by the bigger ones in charge
.
he never knew the reason
why his growth began to stunt
so hard to be assertive
when you're such a little runt
.
he tried to add some poundage
but he never seemed to grow
while everyone around him
turned into a dynamo
.
the other lobsters laughed
or just dismissed him with a grunt
so hard to grow a backbone
when you're such a spineless runt
.
one day, there came a trawler
and it opened up it's net
and very soon collected
every lobster they could get
.
they scooped up all the big ones
but among them, in their hunt
they also captured larry
even though he was a runt
.
they showed up at a diner
in a bubbly little tank
their claws were bound and useless
as men sized them up by rank
.
a lobster that is mammoth
in quick order, takes the brunt
a cinch to go unnoticed
when you're such a little runt

I thought at first Larry might have avoided being caught, but sadly his fate was sealed.

Some great rhythm and rhyme going on in this poem.
