LOST TOURIST

a woman, in a tour group
in a strange and foreign land
left the group, unnoticed
for a side trip, she had planned

she came back in a different dress
her long hair in a bun
and caught up with her tour group
to rejoin them in some fun

she looked entirely different
from the woman they had met
the tour guide looked around
and then he broke out in a sweat

"it seems there's someone missing"
he announced then to his troupe
"we must all now try and find her
and return her to our group"

the woman nodded anxiously
and joined in on the hunt
unaware that it was she
that went and pulled that stunt

as time went on, she realized
as they went door to door
that it was her, thought missing
whom the rest was searching for

she told the congregation
that she was the one they sought
they sighed in great relief
and then the woman had this thought

so often we are helpful
when in trouble, folks are tossed
but sometimes we don't realize
it's us that have been lost
