LOVE DRIVES YOU

love drives you like a tricycle
requiring training wheels
with tassels colored brightly
like pre-adolescent squeals

love drives you like a bicycle
a balance must be found
to keep that wobbly thing alive
and keep you off the ground

love drives you like a funky car
jalopies from the start
will need a lot of maintenance
to keep things young at heart

love drives you like a limousine
with engine, large and strong
with many horses racing there
legs, elegant and long

from here's there's nowhere left to go
but fall back on one's luck
you may find love is driving you
just like a used dump truck

you can't afford another car
your money has been spent
you may find love will drive you
like a taxi you might rent

perhaps things could go straight downhill
and make you want to cuss
you might find love is driving you
just like a smelly bus

of course, that sounds horrific
but i tell you what is worse
you just might find that love is dead
and drives you like a hearse
