THE MADDENING MOON

there have been superstitions

that the full moon drives one mad

it might cause rage or laughter

or to make one deeply sad

but is it purely folklore

or a scientific fact ?

have people done experiments

to see how we react ?

our brains are pretty watery

just like a little sea

so does the moon cause rising tides

that crest in lunacy ?

our water's not affected

by the pull of our dear moon

inside, we are a lake serene

you won't become a loon

in olden days we lived outside

and when a full moon crept

it might have caused insomnia

in times we should have slept

but if we burned a light bulb

every night above our head

we'd get the very same effect

do light bulbs wreck your head ?

i've come to this conclusion

and i think i've got it right

a full moon's an excuse

to those who want to howl all night
