MAINTENANCE REQUIRED

joe's year was going badly
just as bad as it could get
his girlfriend had grown distant
and he found himself in debt

the only thing still working
was joe's car and he was glad
to him, his precious car
was still the best thing that he had

at last his girlfriend left him
his boss said he was fired
and a red light on his car
now warned him MAINTENANCE REQUIRED

to find another job
he knew he had to have a car
and when it came to women
walking dates don't go too far

joe sought out his mechanic
just to see what could be wrong
this fellow opened up the hood
and said, before too long

"there's nothing really wrong in there
can't figure out this light
but i can guarantee you
everything is working right"

joe slipped behind the wheel once more
and turning on the key
he noticed that strange warning light
as red as it could be

as joe gazed upon the dashboard
eight more words came into view
