march evolved from martius
the first month that appeared
and martius, homage to mars
the god of war, revered
.
a town sprung up on seven hills
became an empire, vast
but gods became mere mortals
murdered by iconoclasts
.
what once was prime was third in line
mere bronze, bereft of gold
but mars is still determined
to revive the days of old
.
the sleeping god will soon awake
his spine will start to arch
the calendar disintegrates 
when mars completes his march
