look at that poor mooncalf
it's so different from the rest
that little quiver in its eye
will tell the story best
it's only when the moon grows dim
that it feels less distressed
look at that poor mooncalf
you would think it was possessed
.
look at that poor mooncalf
there is nothing to reveal
it suckles on the liquid light
that through the moonbeams, steal
when filtered through this lunacy
it's hard to say what's real
look at that poor mooncalf
how that simple thing must feel
.
look at that poor mooncalf
can you even comprehend
to only have the dark of night
to count on a friend
but yet it courts the enemy
who'll send it 'round the bend
look at that poor mooncalf
it's the wise one in the end
