some people think that books of yore

are just as dead as latin

they say they're lacking nourishment

and minds, they'll never fatten

old books are not a graveyard

and their words are not a tomb

old books are like a garden

and in each new mind, they'll bloom

the authors who have left this world

for some unknown existence

still speak to us as if alive

in wonderful persistence
.

a mind, once great, shall never die

as long as books are read

the hungry readers take their fill

until their need is fed

so do not be afraid of books

if ancient is their story

just let the light within them shine

and soak up all their glory
