some say my mind is in the clouds
that might be true, i say
i'm often not inside my head
but somewhere far away
i know i need some tethering
or else i tend to stray
i know the phases of the moon
but not the time of day
.
it's hard to think of worldly things
with magic holding sway
i gaze out to the furthest star
then fly to where it lay
time's my only relative
so eons i may stay
i know the phases of the moon
but not the time of day
.
a human's only flesh and bone
which quickly fades away
but underneath there lies a soul
that never will decay
imagination is the spark
that keeps the dark at bay
i know the phases of the moon
but not the time of day

The refrain’s stuck in my head, which is okay because it’s beautiful. The poem is beautiful.
