a six year old at sixty
how did i reach this age ?
it seemed like only yesterday
i was in pupal stage
.
i got free rent and groceries
i did not have a job
i laid around and watched tv
just like a lazy slob
.
oh sure, i had to go to school
that seemed a mighty chore
six hours, then i'd be back home
where i could lounge some more
.
on christmas, it was heaven
piles of gifts beneath the tree
but did i ever give one back ?
did not occur to me
.
i was a little short guy
even now, i'm not that tall
when speaking of emotions
why, i've hardly grown at all
.
a six year old at sixty
i still maintain the joy
inside this aging body
there's a crazy little boy

Reminiscent of A A Milne's 'Now we are six' [When I was one, I had just begun … But now I am six I'm as clever as clever. So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.] Hadn't thought before of the similarity of 'pupal' to 'pupil'! Rhiannon

I still act like a six year old but look like I'm sixty. Really enjoyed this!
