SOUTHERN SEAS WITH NORTHERN LIGHTS

the ocean is the place i go
when i need inspiration
the power and the beauty there
become a revelation
i visited the other day
but something was apparent
the audience was awed and shocked
until quite incoherent
for polar bears were swimming here
the porpoises among them
but peacefulness was reigning there
the bears meant not to wrong them
i never thought i'd see such sights
as southern seas with northern lights
the beauty of the two combined
is almost too much for the mind
a glacier on horizon, set
the sunshine played upon it
the seagulls and the thrashers sang
and weaved a heartfelt sonnet
the sky ablaze with wondrous hues
a rippling violent curtain
some people bowed their heads and prayed
assured the end was certain
was nature just confused that day ?
or just in mood of whimsy ?
the borders that were soundly set
became aloof and flimsy
i never thought i'd see such sights
as southern seas with northern lights
the beauty of the two combined
is almost too much for the mind
