it's thirty seven celsius
and yes, that may sound cold
if you are used to fahrenheit
as many are, i'm told
.
i grew up in america
and when i was in school
they said a system, metrical
would one day be our tool
.
alas, it never came to pass
the old rules staying put
our system weirdly based upon
the length of someone's foot
.
i grew up with outdated modes
you grew up thinking new
but luckily for both of us
there's love to get us through
.
in love, there is no measurement
that follows any laws
it's all a combination
of who cares, why not and cause
.
but if conversion is your game
not difficult to fix
for thirty seven celsius
is ninety eight point six

That last verse is so neat!
That last verse is so neat! We're a strange mixture over here too, especially in shopping and cooking, the funny old measurements seem to fit with what you put into a cake rather than a chemical reaction, so to the nearest gram seems a bit artificial, or in the notes for a walk, we read 'In 150 yards (137m) turn left.' (!) I think the notes had been 'modernised' and I'm pretty sure the 150 yards was meant to be 'about 150 yards' so in 'about 137m' I suppose! Rhiannon
