VINYL

alas, the world's gone digital
and that is such a sin
i moan and sigh for days gone by
when vinyl was the skin
the needle was applied back then
and this supplied the fix
with warps and pops and sudden hops
with skipping and with clicks
they say the sound of compact discs
is crisp and debonair
but rising pitch of music, rich
is better heard with air
let's not forget the cover's style
a trophy you could hold
a majesty of tapestry
not plastic, hard and cold
a spinning disc of blackness
laced with iridescent grooves
the stylus arm would glide with charm
just like a dancer moves
and you could read the lyrics
and appreciate the art
while song's refrain spilled through your brain
and sometimes through your heart
you'd share your finds with all your friends
no download thieving knaves
twas better times when mystic rhymes
of vinyl ruled the waves
