WATER CLAIMS THE STARS

adrift upon an inky lake
as still as wounded time
the stars will blink like angels' winks
in rhythms, so sublime
i gaze at the reflection
of the stars upon the lake
and watch the show with vertigo
as patterned shapes, they take
my eyes start playing tricks on me
confusing downs and ups
as if i roll, a weightless soul
tween two revolving cups
it's like acquiring heaven
for a moment, more or less
which coats my mind, which once was blind
in visions, softly blessed
the sky suggests no jealousy
accepts things as they are
the heavens, there, will kindly share
when water claims the stars

Hi there alvin,
you know I was in town just before Christmas and
your poem reminded me of what I was seeing.
Puddles of water and shiny concrete slabs reflected
the sky and I felt that vertigo feeling of walking
on the sky. I was going to write a poem about it
myself, but I think you summed it all up, in this
beauty of a poem.
Well done and I really enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
