WILD FLOWERS

daffodil pickles and tulips that tickle
and roses that rise with the dawn
a bare dandelion whose mane has went flyin'
and scattered all over the lawn
assailed by azalea in all it's regalia
the glory of morning erupts
now i may be silly but lilies are dillies
but better are buttery cups
a glad gladiola and magic magnolia
and many a zinnia too
the smell of geraniums inside of my cranium
and thistles ? they whistle right through
green are my thumbs for the chrysanthemums
the begonias beggin' for rain
forgettin', i'm not, all the forget-me-nots
for some reason, they stick in my brain
just give me hydrangea and i will arrange ya
a bouquet that's fit for a queen
and how can one copy the splendor of poppies
whenever they burst on the scene
the upsides of daisies will make you go crazy
in orchards, the orchids will play
i hear foxes shove little paws into gloves
but that lilacs won't lie in a lei
a sunflower, tall, is the biggest of all
a century plant's very old
and how 'bout blue bonnets ? they're lovely, doggone it
so merry, the mad marigold
hi there, hibiscus, i hear you're delicious
but no, cauliflower is not
oh, that's not a flower ? no wonder they're sour
a lesson to me has been taught
