WRAPPED UP IN A DREAM

your dreams tell you a story

sometimes modern, sometimes old

you cannot force

these tales of course

they simply must unfold

the plots may be disjointed

or curvaceous arcs, so smooth

a ragged bark

formed in the dark

or peaceful psalms to soothe

they'll inch into the future

hearken back into the past

and when you wake

you'll feel the quake

of what you had seen last

their colors are unworldly

things are never as they seem

perchance, i'll sleep

and slumber, deep

all wrapped up in a dream
