WRITING IS LIKE DRIVING

yes, writing is like driving
as you're knifing through dark nights
your eye observes the twists and curves
that bathe within your lights

the trail is ever bending
never ending as you cruise
you must believe the route you weave
is not meant to confuse

the chase may be surprising
sudden rising, violent dips
a daunting task and you may ask
why do you take these trips ?

you do it for excitement
and enticement for the dark
you never know what brilliant glow
will grow from just a spark

the lines may dim quite blurry
winds of fury, moon so weak
though flying blind, with luck you'll find
the words you strove to speak

yes, writing is like driving
as you're diving, use your strength
the road's just lit a little bit
but you'll inch by at length

It's nice to put your foot down every now and again, with the fear of crashing looming over you. In the litterary sense I mean. I haven't driven since I passed my test, nearly 25 years ago. I never really trusted myself behind the wheel of a car, and can pretty well say the same thing about a keyboard. But, I'll carry on writing. Happily blind-siding life as I go on my merry way. Loved the poem, by the way.
