Linger On, Summer Days

Linger on, Summer days
For we are but leaves blazing
in the trees:
Our fall, whim swept and swift,
Twisting among the myriad paths of light;
Our fall, whim sent and slow,
Sinking into the earth.
Let us not forget the dog days,
Motionless...
Heat and sweat,
Flying roads grinding under our feet.
Boredom filling us till we explode,
Thank God for the mind of the Hive,
Leading us to
Frivolous seats,
Entangled legs and the
Sharp, secret fizz
Of love.
While the mechanical arm
Of work, carries on
Among the buttcrack jokes;
We can only journey after
Elusive strangers,
Marry our mother,
Weep in the night...
Be left for dead,
Reborn,and
Cross at the last minute,
To find again
Our true and contemplative self.
