Extinct Individuality

She looked out into a surreal land of fantasy, of dreams, of absolute magnificent imagination beyond her wildest dreams. She looked out at the brilliant sky glimmering in her eyes, at the magic billows of soft clouds and was swept with a feeling of entire optimism. She could stay here as long as she wanted, no-one was watching her every move and no-one was looking over her with utmost intimidation. She felt free for the first time in her life. She could sit here all day and watch the swarms of creatures all around her, listen to the sound of magical creations, smell that sense of relaxation and feel the freshness of grass beneath her toes.
It was like a whole world created entirely for her selfish purpose only. Here, she was in control, more power than she had ever possessed within the small time she had come into existence. She wanted to laugh at the highest pitch just to make sure no-one was in her world. She wanted to cry just because she could and no-one would criticise her because of it. In the reality beyond this, she was just another girl in a whole group of others. Perhaps they were individuals perhaps they weren’t. She knew they weren’t. She knew that they didn’t dictate their own lives, no-one did. She knew that a path was already set out for them and just because it was well-beaten she was morally expected to follow it. But she wanted to be able to express her own feelings; she wanted to live in a world where she was accepted for all the characteristics of her personal being. Maybe that’s why she did it; maybe that’s why she isn’t with us anymore.
