Cursed in Colour

Bright colours traumatise her
to the point where she sees them
and involuntarily shouts out,
tripping over her own feet.

Orange in particular, pains her -
she makes no effort
in hiding the agony of watching
a woman in a tangerined dress,
with matching sandals -
walk past her.

She doubles up in pain,
wishes she lived in a black and white world
before putting her feet back in the correct place.

She gathers herself up off the floor
and curses Andy Warhol.
