For the pigeons

There is this man
barely visible from Sixth of October Bridge.
He waves a flag
not to get the attention of
drivers on their way home
at dusk
but for his pigeons
who circle
and circle
white dots against a tangerine sky
flapping furiously
unable to understand
the pull that brings them back
to their cage.

Simply beautiful, nancy. You have said in a few words more than most of us could say in many.
Homing pigeons have always fascinated me too.
Very much enjoyed.
