Y - leavng the kalahari behind

To the untrained eye
the dunes look no different,

with sand that settles
between lashes and skin

colouring faces yellow
to accentuate thirst

but we have gone
from the arid Kalahari
driving, windows rolled up
to reach a destination, sweeter
waiting with promises of braiis and lemonade

to this, the city within the desert
where the Saharan sands
do not welcome the traveller

six years pass, and I,
remain in motion, still.
