A Winter's Tale

Fat drops of rain trace
Their way down the windowpane.
Each one joins another and
Together they become as one.
As do the tears on my face.
Outside the cold winter
Still chills me to the bone.
And though it should be spring
The earth is cold and sleeping
Waiting for the thaw to come.
Winter has me in its clutches.
Lay down here beside me
And bring the warming touch
Of your skin on mine.
And I will melt into you again.
Come to me and banish
These cold thoughts;
Of you with her and me alone.
In your sun I will blossom,
And in time will be your summer rose.
