Dancing together

Learning a new style of dance, taking it to new heights, aim to be seamless, all in a trance, holding my new partner tight.
Long to perfect and perform, a rhythm and style of our own,
two different dancers together reformed, a beat that was previously unknown.
Taking it in turns to hold, dancing with young and with old,
windmill spins and shoulder slides, moving together, a lover's jive.
Onto the stage where you learn how to lean, forget all the falls and follow the dream,
hard to start because it hurts when you stop, wanting to dance but scared to be dropped.
Close my eyes and hold you one handed, taking the leap and hoping we've landed,
The spinning speeds up then slows to the silence, the dance in your eyes, glistening vibrance.
We've learnt the performance, the stage awaits, seamless, unfaultering, our love filtrates
One day I will dance a lyric in white, circling the floor in rings, we unite
moving as one whilst our hearts set the beat, together we'll tackle the world with our feet.
