oh bitter the day
oh bitter the dream
beated cheated defeated
it’s so sweet
it’s so sweet
the sisters of mercy
washing my feet
ain’t it sweet
ain’t it sweet
the sisters of mercy
digging
my grave
in the street
sun sun sun
burn burn burn!
son son son
burn burn burn!
heavens’ foundations shake!
altar of forgiveness stand!

i stand
in front of the broken glass
jesus stands behind

sleeping on a pallet on the floor
in the palace of our lord
i came on down
down
down
from the ivory tower

These were written years
These were written years ago. It is a story of hope, of mercy and salvation.
It is not the way I feel today, to the contrary, “in the spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.” &&

Showed me pictures in the
Showed me pictures in the gallery
Showed me novels on the shelf
Put my hands across the table
Gave me knowledge of myself
Showed me visions, showed me nightmares
Gave me dreams that never end
Showed me light out of the tunnel
When there was darkness all around instead
Tore down a la Rimbaud
And I wish my purpose would come
Tore down a la Rimbaud, you know it's hard some time
You know it's hard some time
Showed me ways and means and motions
Showed me what it's like to be
Gave me days of deep devotion
Showed me things I cannot see
Showed me different shapes and colours
Showed me many different roads
Gave me very clear instructions
When I was in the dark night of the soul
Tore down a la Rimbaud
And I wish my writing would come
Tore down a la Rimbaud, you know it's hard some time
You know it's hard some time

I'm a dweller on the
I'm a dweller on the threshold
And I'm waiting at the door
And I'm standing in the darkness
I don't want to wait no more
I have seen without perceiving
I have been another man
Let me pierce the realm of glamour
So I know just what I am
Feel the Angel of the Presence
In the mighty crystal fire
Lift me up consume my darkness
Let me travel even higher
I'm a dweller on the threshold
As I cross the burning ground
Let me go down to the water
Watch the great illusion drown
I will to turn and face the music
The music of the spheres
Lift me up consume my darkness
When the midnight disappears
I will walk out of the darkness
And I'll walk into the light
And I'll sing the song of ages
And the dawn will end the night
I'm a dweller on the threshold
And I'm waiting at the door
And I'm standing in the darkness
I don't want to wait no more
I'm a dweller on the threshold

One Irish Rover & I saw you
One Irish Rover
&
I saw you from a foreign window
Bearing down the suffering road
You were carrying your burden
To the palace of the Lord
I spied you from a foreign window
When the lilacs were in bloom
And the sun shone through your window pane
To the place you kept your books
You were reading on your sofa
You were singing every prayer
You believed in your Bible
And the promise of our Lord
You know if you get it right this time
You don't have to come back again
And if you get it right this time
There's no need to explain
You were carrying your burden
You were singing about Rimbaud
And you laid out on the green hills
Just like when you were a child
I saw you from a foreign window
You were trying to find your way back home
Sleeping on a pallet on the floor
In the palace of the Lord

If I ventured in the
If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dreams
Where mobile steelrims crack
And the ditch in the back roads stop
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down in silence easy
To be born again, to be born again
From the far side of the ocean
If I put the wheels in motion
And I stand with my arms behind me
And I'm pushin' on the door
There you go standin' with the look of avarice
Talkin' to Huddie Ledbetter
Showin' pictures on the wall
Whisperin' in the hall
A-pointin' a finger at me
There you go, there you go
Standin' in the sun darlin'
With your arms behind you
And your eyes before
There you go
Takin' care of your boy
Seein' that he's got clean clothes
Puttin' on his little red shoes
I see, you know he's got clean clothes
A-pointin' a finger at me
Standing in your sad arrest
Trying to do my very best
Lookin' straight at you
Comin' through darlin'
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
And lay me down in silence easy
To be born again, to be born again
In another world, darlin'
In another world
In another time
Got a home on high
Ain't nothing but a stranger in this world
I'm nothing but a stranger in this world
I got a home on high in another land
So far away, so far away
Way up in the heaven, way up in heaven, oh,
In another time, in another place
In another time, in another place
Way up in the heaven
We're goin' to heaven
In another time, in another place
Ain't nothing but a stranger in this world
I've got a home on high

No Guru * The fields are
No Guru
*
The fields are always wet with rain
After a summer shower, when I saw you standin’
In the garden, in the garden wet with rain
You wiped the teardrops from your eyes in sorrow
As we watched the petals fall down to the ground
And as I sat beside you I felt great sadness
That day, in the garden
And then one day you came back home
You were a creature all in rapture
You had the key to your soul
And you did open, that day
You came back to the garden
The olden summer breeze was blowin’ against your face
The light of God was shinin’
On your countenance divine
And you were a violet colour as you
Sat beside your father and your mother
In the garden, wet with rain
The summer breeze was blowin’ on your face
Within your violet you treasure your summery words
And as the shiver from my neck down to my spine
Ignited me in daylight and nature
In the garden
And you went into a trance
Your childlike vision became so fine
And we heard the bells inside the church
We loved so much
And felt the presence, of the youth
Of eternal summers, in the garden
And as it touched your cheeks so lightly
Born again you were and blushed
And we touched each other lightly
And we felt the presence of the Christ
Within our hearts
And I turned to you and I said
No Guru, no method, no teacher
Just you and I, and nature
And the Father
And the Son, and the Holy Ghost
In the garden, in the garden, wet with rain

And she moves on the solid
And she moves on the solid ground
And she shines light all 'round
And she moves on the solid ground
In the County Down
And she moves on the solid earth
And she knows what her wisdom is worth
And she moves on the solid ground
In the County Down
She lifts me up
She fills my cup
When I’m tired and weary Lord
And she keeps the flame
And she gives me hope
To carry on
And she moves on the solid ground
And she moves in the County Down
In the County Down
When she moves ..
