Absent Love

My love's eyes are tall bamboo shoots.
Cotton is no more white than his skin is white.
If trees are tall, then he has short roots.
If some teeth shine dull, his teeth shine bright.

A raven's feather is akin to his hair.
And his nose is as sharp as its beak.
No music can ever compare
To the beautiful noise made when he speaks.

Yet still, how can I love him so?
When he's been absent for many years.
But now I am convinced that I know,
For when he smiles, i'm moved to tears.
