On the shores of Father Thames sits
a house of childish boos and hisses.
It rules the nation, lining pockets
ever deeper, darker pockets.
What's the point in poets ranting,
deepest thoughts are drowned by cant in
solipsistical campaign speeches
spewed from mouths of primate leeches.
Hear the mighty, mighty falling -
petty fraudsters' crude name calling.
See the pedals moving backwards
the ship of state marooned in black words.
Oh! for an honest politician
we'll not have one for all our wishin'!

I am mistaken in my spelling, eek. Was thinking that originally it was a reference to the philosopher, actually spelt Kant - came across him at Uni briefly during a module on Language Theory. My response is simple - nosferatu put the dictionary definition of the word 'cant' up for me (see above), and I appreciated the explanation because I have learnt something! And yes, a dictionary is a very good investment. but there are some good online ones which of course are cheaper and less unwieldy than the Oxford English! J x

I don't feel stupid, just excluded. "Cant - do you mean capital? For the name...?" is just so cryptic to me I couldn't work out what you were asking. And then when he/she came back with something I could have found in 20 seconds on google and you said ""Interesting, thank you for clarifying! I started to feel like you are both 5 or 6 agents passing info in front of my eyes. Shit! I suddenly feel like the imbecile who tells the murderer he knows of their crime ;(. Ok! Time to leave town. It simply didn't occur to me that there was another meaning other than Kant, cant over to one side and can't....that's all! Otherwise I would have googled it too! I would also like to suggest that your feeling of exclusion is odd - the conversation was between nosferatu and I, but hope I have explained sufficiently now! J x p.s. apologies to nosferatu for taking up so much of the thread.
