Snowflake

I fall soft as an Angels kiss
In the still of night
Silent night
Holy night
Descending with my brothers and sisters
In a flurry
Alike yes
But also unique as fingerprints
Seperated from the heavens
Our fate unknown
Some fall in open fields
Keeping purity a while longer
Others drift for days
Into un-seen places
Some settle in cities
Turn to slush
Others trapped in the boughs of trees
Turn to ice
Many more join swirling streams
And transform
And some just dazzle
The wind gently nudges me
Towards a hushed street
Already carpeted in white
For this is our gift
We purify and make time stand still
If only for a second
Turning orange under the street light
I gently land on a oustretched hand
In that magical moment
She witnessess my intricate beauty
I shine like a star then fade away
