Virtuals! Where Do We Come From?

What makes us different from the animals? I’ve never seen an animal write something down. It signaled the start of the virtual age. Clay tablets with lines etched into them sent information remotely, everything else we have developed since then has just been an improvement on the concept. The day will come when even fiber-optic digital data transfer will be considered quaint and old-school. We will merge and join and not even realize it happened until long after it happens. One day someone will realize suddenly that they no longer rely exclusively on a physical body for their very existence. A choice will be made, or perhaps occur by chance. A body will cease to function, die, but the person who lived there will continue to thrive in a less fragile and short lived form. We will one day be virtual! All I need to do is live long enough to get there…

Interesting line of thought.
Interesting line of thought. Virtualisation? I expect a few clever technical people argued over a definition, finally agreed it and it caught on. Everything's up for grabs. Good luck with that evolutionary step. I'm not sure I've got the legs to keep up with you.

scifi - a.i - v.r - etc
Interesting speculation on the future. Personally I'd rather be dead than artificially intelligent in a virtual reality ...
Good Scifi! I would say you have some original ideas ...
