Rumbled Block Paving

The cat lies dreaming
'mongst the moss
on a driveway
leeching petrichor
tendrils to tingle
a rust-pimple
on the aged exhaust
pipe of the exhausted
Mini Metro;
a car which,
though once much-
lauded, -applauded,
wouldn't raise a
tenner from a
car-horny youth
these days.

Gladdened by sunbeams
tickling his
toes and nose
Young Malkin
grey, like his pappa,
stretches,
elongates nicely;
another few minutes,
few years,
whilst the clouds
stay shredded
up there,
won't dent
his regimental diary
