Watching TV With Moira

I am aware
that it isn't good to eat alone.
Galway Kinnell told me.
I am spending too much time alone
generally.
I think the things I watch on TV
are told to me directly.
That's what I say:
'Jeremy Paxman told me ...'
I invite Carol Ann Duffy
for tea. I hope she's not vegetarian.
Over cornish pasties
I tell her that I saw her once
and she seemed grumpy.
I ask if she is high maintenance.
She nods.
She has good manners, I note
as her mouth is full.
Galway Kinnell tells me
it might be worse to eat
with an imaginary friend.
This worries me.
Even so I ask Moira Stewart round
to watch TV.
She surprises me
by acting wild. She seems
so buttoned up.
