We're Prey

Through the common facade of a smile
And the obvious optimistic style
Both of which I portray more than endlessly
And through contemplative thoughts
Far beyond that of what you sought
My mind evolves more than even I can believe
Not in a way to blow my own horn
But I'm merely trying to record
Months worth of processing in one single piece
But comparing my cognitive ability
To that of hardwares' agility
Is very far from true, to say the least
You see machines just don't cry
Nor logic can they apply
To life issues that we would rather delete
But reality is not like Click
More a drama thriller chick flick
But this theatre where we act has no free seats
Criticism and undermining
Bad coincidences and poor timing
Stress, anger and instability at their peak
Because audiences are applauding
Not in praise or to be rewarding
But at every time our success ends up creased
But to take a blow to the chin
Strengthen the castle deep within
Requires fortitude far beyond my original belief
Though it's not a matter a faith
Nationality, creed or race
But rather the person who we are underneath
Even the necessities in life
Are only attainable through more plight
But what challenge lays next I always fail to see
And the blindness is in relief
Because not seeing lowers grief
As you don't make expectations that then get ceased
Recovering from the blitz
Cramming more comfort than can fit
You'd be surprised at what lengths you try to reach
Just to block out all the pain
Prevent the inevitable insane
That lingers in the back of your conscious dream
Because when you close your eyes
You truly become alive
An adventure to escape the everyday feast
That is a predator in the mist
Unforeseeable, but still exists
That consumes on every single weaker beast...
