Everyone’s asleep

The rain is falling steadily
Gutters dripping into pools

No wind
Everything is still

I hold my head against the glass
Close my eyes
And see the grass below me

Deep, green and lush
It resolves against the blackness

The rain intensifies
Climaxing
Until it’s all too much
