“Can’t you go any faster?”
“Well, these bottles are heavy, but what’s the rush?”
“I can’t stand this dawdling.”
“Do you need the toilet or something?”
“No, I just want to get back.”
“Why?”
“No reason. You’re just walking so slow. What’s the matter with you?”
“Do you want to carry the water?”
“I’d rather not.”
“Well then. Just enjoy the moment. It’s lovely. Sun still high. Swifts screeching. People doing their thing. Enjoy it. Savour it.”
“I can’t walk at this speed. I can’t bear it. Why have you stopped?”
“Maybe I've learned something here, after all.”
“Oh, Jesus, you’re in for a shock.”
“Maybe. Maybe not.”
