Hunkered down within these walls
Don’t mention history
Bike locked and relocked to municipal metalwork
A pint on the table crowded by scattered books
reminds me that not everything in life can be shite,
or not all the time, at least
The bookshop across the road fights injustice
And two rich kids have withdrawn from public life
The sun is shining somewhere,
but is nervous of presenting itself in these dark spaces
I came with good intentions
