The irony! The irony!

There are some wonderful ironies in this whole Brexit thing. One of the most interesting is hearing Brits talking about their country being run by foreigners in the EU: “Give us our country back”. The EU is a supranational (above national) representative body. Every member state is represented.
The Single Market is designed to be a level playing-field for all member states and provides individual states with the bargaining power needed to deal with global corporations that increasingly call the tune, threatening and bullying sovereign governments. If there’s an unelected tyranny, that’s it.
Institutional and private corporate interests don’t actually favour a level playing-field. Oligopolistic behaviour and collusion set them in opposition to the very idea. Many of them are represented in Britain’s, or rather London’s, Establishment within The City.
Historically, London didn’t make its money through fair-play, it made it from theft on the high-seas and buying and selling human beings to be traded for tobacco in the New World.
The culture of those entrepreneurs still characterises London and its Establishment. Their ethics are little improved.
Their nemesis is supranational regulation designed to control exploitation and maintain social conditions for the many millions of ordinary people within the EU. How can that be a bad thing?
Such protection even extends to British nationalists and football hooligans – people the London Establishment like to write-off as “hoi polloi” or “the great unwashed”.
You couldn’t make it up. As I said, there are some wonderful ironies in all this.

The EU referendum is a total farce
and the people don't even know what they are voting for.
What the UK has is a weak PM desperate to keep his job and a country run by a party that is pulling itself apart and the only reason they are in power is because the opposition are even bigger idiots.
I seriously doubt either David or Boris really care about the outcome other than staying or getting in charge and BOTH are prepared to wreck the country and destroy everything the UK and Europe has done since WW2. It is really a disgusting state of affairs and these same people have the gall to accuse other counties of being corrupt!
The best thing the British people could do is for nobody to vote, not one in protest at this Great British confidence trick. It's a scam of the worst kind.
The vote will cost me and millions of ordinary people a lot of their hard earned money.
This piece is probably the only honest thing I have read during this monumental balls up:
