Hacking, slashing
Stumbling into empty trails
Some may lead to nostalgia
Others to grassy heights
Of unimagined space
Someone comes
Labouring through the vines
Friend? Foe? Or passing lover?
No matter
They cross a breath away
Rehearsing their arguments
Too gone to notice a fellow traveller
Lost to this life
Who cares?
The jungle harbours its own rewards

Yes... that captures very well how it often feels to me now.
Those rewards are often street-corner pubs, I find... especially those with quiet tables, off on their own.
