The water came and it came
The ropes they groaned under the strain
Through rotting hulks, no two the same
The swimmer pulled and kicked in vain
Twixt sea and sky the sun won’t wait
Where sinking funnels meet their fate
The swimmer sets his gaze
And pulls and kicks and pulls again
