How did that happen?
How did it come to pass? we ask ourselves
that flawed but high-reward professionals in primary care took our cash to build their citadels of robotised telephony in which to hide?
Didn’t see that one coming, did we?

Well, now,
I think you should have. I certainly did, having watched military procurement fail and fill others' pockets in every field from purchasing the simplest tool or IT provision, right up to aircraft, armour and ships. Military contracts are awarded to the cheapest of 3 tenders and rarely come in on time. Civililan government contracts are awarded to whoever went to the right school. Serco was a by-word for incompetence when they provided the the maintenance of the military part of the Crown Estate. That's soldiers' families' homes; soldiers who were off getting shot at and blown up in the latest daft venture by whichever over-inflated ego was in power at the time.
Big organisations are crap at innovation too. That's why the NHS App, and the civilian track and trace system are useless.
But you know all this, I'll shut up now.

It is all so wrong! The other
It is all so wrong! The other day they were going on about this robot they'd invented, to work in care homes, which was programmed to ask about people's memories of the war. I cannot understand in what possible way this could be a good thing. What it would do to someone, to realise they had been tricked into talking to a machine, that would not respond to any of the fear despair and confusion they feel, can offer no comfort or counsel, cannot interact, cannot CARE. If people who can no longer work/buy stuff are seen as a commodity, like farm animals, to be looked after with the minimum input for maximum profit then humanity is not a good word
And what you write it seems that relatives are expected to accept this, be treated the same. It is frightening to feel so shut out when desperate for help. You are doing great, fighting for your Mum
