Do you know what’s great about playing?
You can’t lie to the instrument.
From the moment you open the case, it’s asking for the truth.
From the moment you touch it, it’s telling you the truth.
The truth may not be pretty, but that’s where it is.
It begins, like many things, with some honesty, and a little humility.

Do you want to improve? * “Yes.”
Well, let’s be honest about where you are. * I nod.
Let’s be honest about what you want. * I think of the many things I want in life.
Let’s go about it. * In this moment, this is what I want.

“Can I ever be good?”
I dunno. But at least you can try: care a little; show some honesty and hard work.
