Weston Bay

Our bay was as beautiful
as I have ever seen it tonight.
The air was still and balmy.
The sea was a mirror
reflecting the embers
of a summer sky.
Along the promenade
elderly couples basked
in the evening glow.
Small parties animated
the sidewalk bars.
Across the water
solid reassuring Steepholm
gazed back toward the town.
On a night like this
I could be anywhere in the world.
