"As The Leaves Turn..."

Canvas of yellow and orange
Draping the landscape
Hint of a chill wind
In the air
Hot chocolate
Simmering on a stovetop
Woolens retrieved
From corners of closets
To lounge near doorways
Ready to wear
Fallen leaves of golden color
Hills for childish delight
To fall upon and daydream
Looking up at a clear blue sky
Seedlings planted
In cooler earth
Bring visions of
Pumpkins and gourds
Apple picking adventures
Tout bushels to be found
Apple cider, apple crumble
And apple pies will abound
Autumn harvest festivals
Of scarecrow making,
pumpkin carving
Pie eating delight!
The season turning
From summer to fall
Is a welcome event
For one and for all

Lovely photo! and the words
Lovely photo! and the words go with it. There are some dreary days, but a lot of sparkling colour, fresher air, and crunching leaves. Also blackberry picking here anyway, but more or less over now! Rhiannon

Hi Penny,
Hi Penny,
this was a tonic to read for my favourite time of the year. Just love those bohemian colours mentioned in your poem, and looking at the harvest of summer growth that many children look forward too, those pumkins that can be turned into so many meals, and fun for carving out faces. Also the harvest of apples that are loved by families for so many desserts...also apple bobbing for children of all ages. You've also captured the feeling of chill winds and that cozy feeling of wrapping up warm so perfectly.
Here's to my favourite time of the year, and your great poem Penny.
Jenny.
