Fluffy Cat 1 stared at Fluffy Cat 2.
Fluffy Cat 1 was on one side of the road, Fluffy Cat 2 was on the other side.
They stared, not face on, but in a cool, casual, sidelong way.
Larry observed. Mick got out his camera.
"No," said Larry.
"Why?" said Mick.
"Because," said Larry.
Mick understood. He put away his camera.
Fluffy Cat 1 inclined his head.
Fluffy Cat 2 licked a paw.
Mick forgot to breathe. He coughed.
"Mick!"
"Sorry!"
The cats looked at Mick.
"Oh dear God..." said Larry.
A car approached and the cats acted casual.
Larry and Mick exhaled.
The Fluffy Cat Face-Off resumed.
"(What do we do now?)" Mick asked Larry.
"(We wait)" Larry told Mick.
"(For what?)"
"(You will know)"
Mick wasn't sure. But he waited. He remembered he needed a wee. His mouth felt dry. He counted the seconds on his internal clock. They ticked by... slowly... painfully...
"Fuck this," said Fluffy Cat 1, and he scarpered.
"Victory is mine," said Fluffy Cat 2.
"That was weird," said Larry.
"Indeed," said Mick.
"Fancy a game of hopskotch?"
"Why the heck not?"
